SuperBowl Commercial - Tim Tebow

What are you thoughts as to the "Focus on the Family" organization's 30 second commercial scheduled to aire during the Superbowl?

If you did know about it is a commercial that focuses on the right-to-life issue versus the Pro-Choice side the right to an abortion. CBS at this point maintains it will run the commercial even tough there has been strong opposition by several Pro-Choice organizations. CBS maintains that the commercial shows a position, "a Choice" and encourages the other side to do the same if they wish by running their own commercial.

What do you think CBS should do stay the course or not run the commercial?

State of the Union Address

President Obama made his first State of the Union Address and it was not unlike his previous appearances before both Houses of Congress, on National Television or on the campaign trail. The President seemed poised and confident as always, while on Que with the several light comments he usually makes during most of his appearances and public addresses.

The President hit most of the areas important and significant to his agenda albeit his demeanor seemed slightly subdued. He stayed away from items which recent polls have shown not to be leaning in his favor and have been near disasters for the Administration and the Democratic Party (Guantanamo detainees and closure, terrorism, and the criminal prosecutions of the terrorists both a Guantanamo and Detroit flight on Christmas Day and FED Chairman).

The President highlighted jobs (stimulus 1 and incentives for small business), balancing the budget, freezing National spending in 2011, Health-care, Energy, cutting taxes for the 95%, Taxing the banks, removing Partisan politics and special interest, Increase military benefits for our service men and women, etc... All in all it was the same old thing nearly 72 minutes of it.

I found his discussion as to balancing the budget in 5 years with his spending freeze to be instituted in 2011 in conflict. Why wait a year when if it were our personal budget we'd have to cut it now not a year from now. Based upon CBO (Congressional Budget Office) we are set to be 1.3 Trillion over budget this year. Again I ask why wait... do it now this year not next.

His other programs to pay for college tuition (which I am paying nearly $38,000 out of my pocket for my education is my choice and no one else) why must I pay for someone else to go to school and live better than me. Education is not free the money will come from increased taxes.

During his address he called for a new "jobs bill" from Congress... wrong again. This is his stimulus 2 bill he wanted earlier this year. This bill won't increase jobs it will go to the same old government bureaucracies the last stimulus went to. You want to create jobs, business and grow the economy have a plan of growth for each business. Reduce requirements, regulations, taxes, penalties, fees, etc... that prohibit new and expanding businesses. I had my own businesses and sold and got out of them because of all of these governmental stings wrapped around my throat. I refuse as so many others not to start a new business until the Federal and State Governments become business friendly. If the President truly wants the United States to stay in position #1 than create a plan for free enterprise to flourish as Reagan did and watch China, India and the others fall by the wayside as the Soviet Union and their block countries did. The proposed IRA legislation currently being discussed by Congress is another idea which sounds good but is bad for small business and will keep a business from hiring that 1-2 extra employees taking them to 10 to avoid this requirement. Most small businesses barely make enough for the owners to survive month to month as I did (I worked another full-time job to make ends meet.)

I truly want to believe in President Obama he did say some good things but... His words as those of that used car salesman on T.V. are getting old and unbelievable. He and his goals are more important than that of a majority of the American people. I don't want a democracy because when everyone talks nothing gets done (look at Congress). I want our Republic back as designed by our founding fathers, I want our rich history and culture back and I want the freedom to succeed or fail based upon my efforts and through my success. I can than grab those that want to attain as me I will give them a hand up instead of a handout and for those in need I can provide support and comfort though charity as again is part of our American Culture... for example look at the support this country has give to Haiti these past 3 weeks and into the future.

I would love to give Obama a "C" or better but based upon the last year all I can do is give him a "D". I hope this time next year it will be a "B" or higher but based upon what I've heard in the Address its not looking good. A little humility on the President's part will go a long way toward restoring support from the American people. Mr. President Admit your failures, change course when necessary and be humble to the people who want nothing more than to support you. And Stop calling us Stupid as you have so frequently done in so many words and ways.

Senator Scott Brown & President Obama's State of the Union Address

Well it has been a week since the Massachusetts Senate elections and Senator Brown's first trip to D.C. It appears that the Progressives within the Democratic Party are somewhat in a tizzy as they loose a Senate seat. A seat to which they have had locked up for over 30 years, in a State and sector of the Country which predominately leans toward the Center-Left.

Later tonight may be a defining moment as President Obama takes center stage with his first State of the Union Address. What direction will he take in reaction to the voters speaking loudly for a third time. The President did not seem to hear the previous 2-times (New Jersey Governor race and Virgina's House seat)the voters spoke. Will he continue the course possibly distancing himself from his Party and the American majority or will he change course as his predecessors have done in the past. Will he stay with the Progressives on the Far-Left or will he move toward the traditional Democratic Center-Left? Obama's effectiveness as President over the next 3-years may weigh in the balance depending upon which direction he chooses. Will the Democratic Party stay the course with him if he choose the Far-Left or will they distance themselves in an attempt to save the Party from fracture that could ultimately divide the party in two. A Socialist Democratic Party and Blue/Center-Left Democratic Party. Either choice could severely hurt one or both of those parties.

What are your thoughts, and what direction should Obama and/or the Democratic Party take? What should the Republicans do and what about the progressive insertion into the Republican Party?
